South Coast Hikes:

Josephine Newman Sanctuary:

General Description: A hike in an Audubon sanctuary around a rugged, wooded peninsula bounded by salt water.

General Location: Located on Georgetown Island, a remarkably pristine island southeast of Woolwich in Sagadahoc County.

Degree of Difficulty: Easy to moderate. Some sections of the trail are steep, but none present any particular difficulty.

Length: 1.8 miles on various trails.

Kennebunkport:

General Description: A seaside walk in one of southern Maine's most noted villages.

General Location: Kennebunkport in York County.

Degree of Difficulty: Easy.

Length: 1 mile round-trip.

Hockomock Nature Trail:

General Description: A self-guided nature trail through woods and fields and along the shore.

General Location: Keene Neck south of Waldoboro in Bremen, Lincoln County.

Degree of Difficulty: Easy.

Length: 1-mile loop.

Mast Landing:

General Description: A hike through an Audubon sanctuary with upland ridges, fields, and a tidal stream.

General Location: On the outskirts of Freeport in Cumberland County.

Degree of Difficulty: Easy.

Length: 1.9 miles on various trails.
